Shape-A-Mation
A motion graphics intro where everyday objects transform into new visual stories
— Shape-A-Mation is a short motion graphics film created around the theme of environment and sustainability. The piece uses seamless shape transitions to show how objects can shift, break apart, rebuild, and transform into something entirely new.

Project Overview
Create a short, visually engaging motion graphics intro that uses transformation, rhythm, and shape animation to communicate creativity, movement, and environmental awareness.
The project explores how motion design can make abstract ideas feel fun and approachable. Instead of using heavy explanation, Shape-A-Mation relies on visual transformation, timing, and surprise to keep the viewer engaged. Each transition was designed to feel smooth, intentional, and imaginative while maintaining a clean illustrated style.
Shape-A-Mation was designed as a playful motion piece for EcoMotion Studio, a fictional creative studio focused on sustainability-driven storytelling. The concept was built around a simple idea: nothing on screen stays still for long. A hot air balloon can break apart into an umbrella, an everyday object can become part of a new scene, and simple shapes can carry the entire visual narrative.
Approach

Team refining user journeys
The process began with identifying objects that could visually connect through shared shapes. From there, I developed the illustrated assets, mapped transition moments, animated each transformation in After Effects, and refined timing, spacing, and visual flow.
As a motion designer, I focused on making the animation feel seamless and polished rather than simply decorative. I broke each object into basic forms, studied how those forms could reassemble into new objects, and used pacing, easing, masking, and layered animation to create fluid transitions. The goal was to make the viewer feel like every transformation was surprising but still visually logical.

The design direction was based on playful transformation. I wanted the piece to feel light, clever, and unexpected while still staying visually clean. The animation uses simple forms, soft movement, and controlled pacing to make sustainability feel imaginative rather than heavy or instructional.

The final film is a 33-second motion graphics intro featuring a sequence of objects that morph, split, and rebuild into new forms. The piece combines illustrated design, seamless transitions, and rhythmic motion to create a polished visual experience that feels playful, modern, and concept-driven.
The completed animation demonstrates my ability to create expressive motion from simple visual elements. It highlights strengths in transition design, object-based storytelling, timing, composition, and After Effects animation techniques.
